Gardiens des Traditions
Village de Ginoza sur l’île d’Okinawa. Un chien-lion veille sur le village. Il protège ses habitants et repousse les mauvais esprits. Au fil de ses pérégrinations pendant la pandémie, nous rencontrons des habitants de différentes générations qui tentent dans leur vie quotidienne de maintenir les traditions vivantes. Ils partagent leur amour pour les arts traditionnels mais aussi leur combat pour les préserver sous peine de les voir disparaître.

沖縄本島宜野座村
人々を守り、悪霊を払う獅子が村を見守っている。
パンデミックの渦中にあるこの村で、伝統芸能を守ろうとする様々な世代の人に出会う。
伝統芸能を愛することも、伝統芸能が消える悲しみも、全てを分かち合い、守るために奮闘する彼らの姿を目の当たりにするだろう。
ウムイとは
沖縄の言葉で、「思い」という意味である。琉球独自の文化、琉球芸能が今も生活の中にある沖縄、その芸能と共に生きる人々の「ウムイ」を追ってみた。

Guardians of Traditions
Ginoza village on Okinawa island. A lion-dog watches over the village to protect the people and repel evil spirits. Through its wanderings in the middle of the pandemic, we meet inhabitants from different generations who try in their everyday lives to keep traditions alive. They will share their love for traditional arts but also their struggle to protect them under the fear of seeing them disappear.

Dans les coulisses d’un spectacle
Claus Franke est pianiste et professeur à l’université. Installé à Okinawa depuis plusieurs années décide de réaliser un nouveau projet musical et théâtral sur la thématique du Rhin dans le but de créer un pont culturel entre l’Allemagne et Okinawa.
Une centaine d’artistes sont impliqués, le projet est en marche sans savoir s’il sera financé, les problèmes s’accumulent et mettent en péril le spectacle.

ドイツ人クラウス・フランケは、ドイツと沖縄の文化の懸け橋となるため、 ライン川を巡る音楽・演劇台本を書き、 資金調達 に奔走したが未だ返事すら来ない。 助成がもらえるのかもらえないかは公演の直前まで分からない。 けれども練習を進めていかなければ何もできていないのに本番を迎えてしまう。 100名を超える出演者の士気を 高めなければと焦る。 役者や合唱団の練習場所へ、衣装チームの学校へ、ブラスバンド練習場所へ、と慌た だしく活動するとき、いろんなハプニングや公演を妨げるような事ばかりが続く。 彼は精神的に限界まで追い込ま れる中、試練をどのように乗り越えていくのか?
果たして無事に開催することはできたのか?
RHEINBILDER
a piece of Germany in Okinawa
Claus Franke is a professional pianist and university teacher, who has lived in Okinawa for several years. He decides to create a new musical and theatrical project on the theme of the Rhine river, with the aim of creating a cultural bridge between Germany and Okinawa.
Around a hundred artists are involved. The project is under way without knowing if it will be funded. Problems are piling up putting the show at risk.

スペイン系スイス人のダニエル・ロペス監督は、2003年に沖縄に移住する。沖縄県立芸術大学の大学院で学ぶ一方、映像製作やカメラマン、テレビのパーソナリティーなどを担当。沖縄独自の文化に着目し、彫刻家や琉球舞踊の師範らさまざまな人々との会話から沖縄の本質に迫る。

Despite the conflicts posed by the stationing of U.S. military bases in Okinawa, the inhabitants of the island fight and strive for the survival of their singular indigenous identity. In his very personal documentary film, Swiss director Daniel López delivers an analysis of the difficult political situation and presents the fascinating culture of Okinawa in all its facets.
